Its confirmed! Toni Gonzaga will be playing the lead role for the upcoming Filipino adaptation of the hit South Korean romantic-comedy “My Sassy Girl.”
The news came down from Gonzaga’s company, TinCan Productions, exactly on her 37th birthday, Jan. 20.
On Instagram, they showed the glimpse of how Toni will look during the project, and fans are beyond excited to see the actress and TV host back on the big screen.
“In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, this year we will relive the classic Korean RomCom with its Philippine adaptation. On her birthday, we are proud to announce Toni Gonzaga is Philippines’ My Sassy Girl,” the film company posted on Instagram.
Meanwhile Toni’s sister, Alex expressed her excitement for her ate.
“Perfect choice!” she wrote on the comment section.
It seems like things are going along Toni’s favor this 2021.
After celebrating her birthday with her loved ones in Boracay, projects keep on coming on her way, but the actress have still her reservations especially that her son, Sevi, who is still on his formative years still need close guidance and attention.
“Prior to having a Philippine adaptation, the 2001 South Korean classic was first remade by Hollywood with Elisha Cutberth and Jesse Bradford in the lead roles back in 2008.
“In the original “My Sassy Girl,” directed by Kwak Jae-yong, Jun Ji-hyun plays the title role alongside Cha Tae-yun’s Gyeon-woo.
“While TinCan Productions has introduced Gonzaga as the new Sassy Girl, her leading man in the film, as well as its release date, has yet to be disclosed.” Inquirer wrote.
